Cafe racers normally cost a fortune to buy because they're hand made by specialists. Not so the newly launched Continental GT (now where have I heard that name before?) from Royal Enfield. In the UK it will cost £5,200 ($8,300 USD).
It's a new engine, in a new frame with some decent components. It does only have 29bhp though.

I'm surprised these things have disk brakes.

There's a Royal Enfield / Vespa / TORO lawnmower (lolwut) dealer combo near me. I've always wanted to swing in and see the bikes.

This is a handsome bike, but it looks really small. Is it just me? I wonder what it'd be like as a city commuter machine... 29hp is plenty for slipping through traffic and just goofing around on side roads, but I imagine it won't exactly get the heart racing on the motorway.
By the time it gets imported to Canada it'll probably cost $10000, sell only two or three models, and then get pulled from the market because we can't get nice things here.

They sell them in the US, they probably sell them in CA

Yes, but I'm assuming that new motorbikes and cars are sold the same way: with pointless markups designed to screw Canadian consumers. If you try to buy a new car in the US and then import it directly, many manufacturers tell you flat out that they won't honour their warranty. Many dealers, if they know you're a Canadian buyer, won't even sell to you.
So we get burned on the prices and there's not much we can do...
